About Us
CAMERA LEFT / STAGE RIGHT is a collective of industry professionals offering audition technique classes for both children and adults of all skill levels and at any stage of their acting careers. Classes are available online or held at Southpaw Casting Studios in Los Angeles, CA, and are conceptualized & administered by the casting directors at asg casting, inc.
Our mission at Camera Left is to help actors put their best faces forward and give the best auditions possible— in any situation. Please check out our new classes that focus on special techniques for in-home virtual auditions, in-person, and self-tape auditions. If you know anyone that may benefit from any of our classes, please pass this along to them as well.
Founder and Special Guest
Arlene graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a major in Film Production. After several years on set as a PA, talent coordinator and 2nd AD, Arlene moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in casting and started asg casting, inc., in 1994. Splitting time between the studio and on-the-road casting, Arlene built her resume to include a great breath of work: everything from commercial campaigns to half-hour dramedies and reality shows. A pioneer in digital casting, Arlene developed Master Caster, a program template for LACasting, which would become the predecessor to the now globally-used casting program, Casting Networks.
As a result of the pandemic, Arlene co-created TheWaitingRoom, a safe and contactless casting sign-in system, approved by SAG-AFTRA. Arlene is a member of CCDA and serves on several committees. Mentoring through internships, seminars, and outreach remains a passion.
Arlene owns Southpaw Casting Studios in North Hollywood, home to Camera Left / Stage Right! Arlene is committed to nurturing a fresh, creative and collaborative work force.
